Sessant’anni fa nessuno avrebbe scommesso che una terra arida come la Puglia, dove il sole imbianca ancora le antiche e solitarie masserie colorando d’argento le foglie degli ulivi nelle tiepide albe estive, sarebbe stata scelta da un miliardario indiano titolare della Zamin Ferrous.
Fondata dallo stesso Pramod Agarwal, che raggruppa le diverse aziende minerarie sparse nel mondo ultima delle quali in Uraguay.
Il fascino della pietra con la quale questa terra di Puglia adornava le sue case rurali, le torrette lungo le coste, le piccole cappelle rupestri lungo i sentieri di campagna , le colonne, le volte e gli archi delle antiche “Case patronali”, evidentemente, sull’onda pubblicitaria del capolavori che la nascente cinematografia pugliese sta diffondendo con successo in Europa e nel mondo , deve averlo raggiunto nella città londinese di adozione portando però, nel cuore il marchio indelebile del suo DNA culturale che rimane sempre quello della grande ed antichissima India.
Si l’ India ! Un nome che accende la mente di visioni fantasmagoriche, che ci trasporta in luoghi di sogno , di palazzi incantati e cupole dorate , di principi e maharaja adorni di turbanti colorati e pietre preziose , di principesse velate, di forzieri di perle sul dorso di elefanti dal passo lento e dondolante ….. un nome che racconta di tradizioni filosofiche , di grandi maestri di saggezza, di asceti in luoghi inaccessibili dove nel silenzio divino si placano i tumulti della mente per scendere nella profondità della coscienza e sperimentare l’Unità del tutto.
Agarwal, come uomo d’affari di successo di origine indiana, porta comunque nella nostra mitica Puglia il respiro antico di un cultura filosofica millenaria che lo distingue da ogni altro miliardario occidentale.
Non per niente la sua holding indiana si chiama Lakshmi Mittal dove per Lakshmi s’intende la dea dell’Abbondanza alla quale sicuramente il sig. Agarwal deve venerazione e ringraziamento. D’altra parte come figlio dell’India egli testimonia di come questo grande paese oggi , nonostante il suo alto tasso di povertà, continui a marciare spedito verso una economia che la posiziona tra le prime potenze economiche mondiali. Notevoli sono infatti i progressi in campo scientifico, spaziale, informatico, agricolo…. tanto che lo stesso Prodi qualche anno fa si recò in India con una folta delegazione per allacciare rapporti commerciali con le aziende italiane.
Espressione di questa crescita economica è appunto il magnate Pramod Agarwal che per le nozze della sua terza figlia Rikita con Rohan Metha, ha scelto la costa Adriatica tra Fasano e Savelletri . Che dei tre punti d’incontri festaioli: Masseria San Domenico, Masseria Pettolecchia , cala Masciola a Borgo ignazia , egli ne abbia scelto un’altro segreto ove discutere d’affari non è dato saperlo ma certo è che la masseria dove si svolge la cerimonia nuziale appartiene ad un banchiere svizzero e si sa bene che tra banche ,banchieri e uomini d’affari solitamente le intese corrono sul filo della ‘valuta’ per dirla volgarmente, della moneta.
Dunque se oggi il ‘Maharaja’ non si muove più sul dorso d’elefante sventagliato da sudditi ossequiosi e fedeli come usavano i suoi predecessori, ma usa i jet supersonici per coprire le distanze tra un’ azienda e l’altra del mondo, la nostalgia dell’amato pachiderma dalle orecchie alate e la proboscide penzolante gli avrà preso così tanto il cuore che per la cerimonia nuziale ha ordinato la presenza di due elefanti per i rispettivi sposi. Un segno di attaccamento alla tradizione ed al rispetto sacrale che la cultura indiana nutre verso gli animali.
Le proteste trasmesse via Facebook ed il comprensibile risentimento dei parenti dei marò italiani ancora prigionieri in India al fastoso evento , non hanno raggiunto le zone di soggiorno degli 800 ospiti causa la ferrea disciplina di sicurezza che impediva l’accesso a chiunque non fosse stato invitato direttamente da Agarwal , tuttavia, bisogna pur sottolineare gli enormi vantaggi economici e lavorativi di cui la gente del luogo e della regione tutta ha usufruito.
Un intero albergo di qualità prospiciente il mare con piscina e servizi confortevoli è stato messo a disposizione di tutto lo staff lavorativo ; un piccolo esercito al comando di aziende pugliesi che hanno provveduto alla installazione di capannoni, salotti sul mare, luminarie, catering, spettacoli, file di limousine per il trasporto degli ospiti dall’aeroporto alle masserie ed alberghi cinque stelle, insomma, tutto questo trambusto non può che aver portato una ventata di sollievo economico che anche se momentaneo potrà incidere sul futuro del turismo locale. Infatti, grazie alla pubblicità dell’evento ‘rosa, altri turisti , trascinati dalla suggestione e dal clamore che solitamente le storie d’amore hanno sulla psiche umana, saranno indotti alla partenza verso le nostre mitiche sponde tanto amate dagli dei e cantate da onirici poeti .
E per collegarci allo spirito dell’India di Agarwal un augurio agli sposi con i versi di Rabindranath Tagore insignito del premio Nobel alla Letteratura nel 1913: …… Osservo se i giovani cuori vagabondi / s’incontrano, e due paia d’occhi supplicanti / chiedono che la mia musica/rompa il loro silenzio/ e parli per loro./ chi tesserà i loro canti appassionati/se io siedo sulla riva della vita………
